Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips, if using.
Pour batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
Allow to cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
