Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ cup uncooked long-grain rice
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, uncooked rice, onion, egg, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs and place them in the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, brown sugar, and Italian seasoning. Pour the sauce over the meatballs.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 45-50 minutes, until the rice is tender and meatballs are cooked through. Garnish with parsley before serving.
